Khadijah bint Khuwaylid

Lady Khadijah bint Khuwaylid (may Allah be pleased with her) was the first wife of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and the most beloved to him. She holds a distinguished place in Islamic history, as she was the first person to believe in the Prophet and stood by him from the very beginning, providing him with immense moral and financial support.

Her Lineage and Early Life Lady Khadijah was born in Mecca and belonged to the noble tribe of Quraysh. She was known for her honorable lineage and her noble character. She was nicknamed "the Pure One" in the pre-Islamic era due to her virtuous reputation. Khadijah was a successful merchant and held a high status in Meccan society, hiring men to work in her trade.

Her Marriage to the Prophet (PBUH) Khadijah had been married twice before she married the Prophet Muhammad. After the passing of her previous husbands, she proposed marriage to the Prophet when he was 25 years old, while she was 40. Their marriage was a blessed union, and the Prophet deeply loved her, remaining faithful to her until her death. He did not marry any other woman during her lifetime.

Her Faith in Islam and Support for the Prophet Khadijah was the first person to believe in the Prophet Muhammad’s message, embracing Islam from the very first moment. When the Prophet first received revelation in the Cave of Hira and returned home feeling fearful and shaken, he confided in Khadijah. She was the first to comfort and reassure him, saying her famous words: "By Allah, Allah will never disgrace you. You keep good relations with your family, you are truthful, you bear the burdens of the weak, you help the poor and destitute, you serve your guests generously, and you assist those in need."

Her Role in Supporting the Message of Islam Khadijah contributed greatly to the Prophet's mission, offering her wealth, effort, and patience to support him. She was his steadfast supporter during challenging times, including the three-year boycott in the Valley of Abu Talib, where Quraysh isolated the Prophet’s clan and followers. Her unwavering support fortified his resolve and helped him endure the hardships of his mission.

Her Death and Its Impact on the Prophet Khadijah passed away in the tenth year of prophethood, in the year known as the "Year of Sorrow" due to the immense grief her death caused the Prophet Muhammad. Her passing was a great loss to the Prophet and to Islam as a whole, as she was the loyal wife, the first believer, and the constant source of support in his life.

Her Status in Islam Lady Khadijah holds a special place in the hearts of Muslims, and the Prophet (PBUH) often praised her after her passing, recalling her kindness and loyalty. He advised Muslims to honor and respect her memory, and he continued to remember her with deep affection and respect even years after her death
